Tis the season...

Here the students show off their knowledge of the four seasons and what happens in each one. How do you think the trees look?

The leaves change color and fall to the ground...
it must be Autumn!

It´s snowing and very cold! Christmas
is around the corner, too...Winter is here!

The flowers are blooming and the leaves are green.
Spring has sprung!

The sun is shining and we´re on holiday. Summer is here!

We Love Miró!

This month our first and second years learned about the important artist Miró...and got to be artists themselves! Take a look at some of the artist´s famous works, recreated here by our vey own Mirós-in-the-making!

This is Miró´s original work, "The Little Cat." Can you tell the difference between it and the versions below?

A group of first years interpret ¨The Little Cat¨like this. Miró would be proud!

Four groups of first years show off their artistic abilities with these pictures. It looks like we have some very taleneted students here at Severo Ochoa!

Here Miró is surrounded by more art from four groups of first years. Maybe he is thinking the works look better than his...what do you think?

Our second years also understand the importance of Miró, and they recreated the work pictured here, "Portrait IV." What do you think of their interpretations?

This group of second years creates a beautiful picture...it´s like you´re looking

at the real portrait!

So much Miró!

Two very different views of "Portrait IV," but both are equally wonderful!

Our Experiment with Plants

The students see an experiment to learn what plants need to grow.

These seeds received water, but we kept them in a drawer, so they got no sunlight. Therefore, they were not able to conduct photosynthesis properly, so the chlorophyll, which gives plants their green color, never became active. Thus, the blades of grass are yellow.

The seeds on the left did not receive any water, so they did not grow. However, the seeds on the right got water and sunlight, so they grew, and the blades turned green because they were able to conduct photosynthesis properly, activating the chlorophyll.

SCHOOL YEAR 2007-2008

lunes, 19 de mayo de 2008

Learning about Life

The students learn about nature and life.

Cherno stands proudly by his art project: a collage depicting the countryside. The tree trunk is made of macaroni; the clouds are made of cotton balls; the sky is made of shavings from a blue crayon; and paper is used for the water and the tree-top.

The children learn about how a plant grows up. Sergio is the plant; Eva Merino, Isabel, and Adriana are the things that he needs to grow.

Eva Merino is pregnant...with Luisiana!

And Luisiana gives birth to Angel, a lovely baby boy.

The Students Go to the Sports Center

The 1st-year students go on a field trip to the Sports Center of Torrejon de Ardoz.

They jump in a sack race.

They play hockey while sitting down.

Sergio, Olimpiu, Cherno, Isabel, and Angel climb the wall.

Aitor plays with a bouncing ball.

Andrea helps Angela pedal.

Some of the students fight with fake swords.

Jorge says, "Let's play football!"

...And play hockey!

At the end of the day, the students from our school and other schools perform a dance they have been learning in gym class.
